The Living Still-Life: Art In BloomBring 2D Masterpieces to Home In the Form of Artsy Flowers!
What would it look like to have a real and physical Van Gogh's Sunflower living and breathing in your own home?
I'm a New York-based artist and I started a project year ago focusing on transforming famous artworks into the most groundbreaking and elegant 3D floral art!
Like old masters did centuries ago, I paint, but I paint on flowers.
One of my visionary designs is the handcrafted ‘haute couture’ floral decor inspired by still life paintings. I convert what is painted on canvas into real and tangible flowers that can be freely arranged and enjoyed in any space timelessly.
I also employ signature color palettes from painters across the centuries to my hand-crafted flowers and containers. What you see in museums will be echoed in my version of the “garden of eden": Moet, Turner, Renoir, Van Gogh, Picasso, Bosschaert the Elder, Caravaggio, Da Vinci... you name it.
I like to transform objects. I want to overturn the cliche concept of faux flowers. Instead of merely "mirroring" the reality, the flower is becoming art in itself.
WHY I DO THIS
“One afternoon when I went through Bosschaert the Elder’s photo archives along with Willem van Aelst’s, I can’t stop imaging how sublime and fanciful the flowers once was in front of the artists’ eyes. This idea was so stimulating that there emerged a desire of making them real and substantial. At a certain point, I decided to let it happen. I wanted to convert 2D flowers under master’s brushes into 3D tangible flower arrangements. I will turn those imaginative flowers into actual ones. The creating process is hard. I hunted tons of materials and painting techniques in order to reach enough delicacy. It costs time, but behind all of this is the sentiment for the timeless beauty. There are multiple ways to translate artworks into flowers. Behind all of these designs is just one simple idea: I want to take masterpieces out of the museum, down from the wall, give them flesh and bone to let people enjoy art daily in a new and effortless way."
A creative idea can never be new on its own. It is a process of absorption and reflection. I love to revisit the past and see how it can make a different impact on our present existence. By examining what was once painted by the masters and the way they presented this world, I interpret their visions and translate them into mine. This process involves multiple perspectives across the time, and will be finally completed by your end. Once you see my crafted flowers, you see through it, you see the original, you see the painter, you see his world view in a specific color , you see his aesthetics. Then you see what is in front of you, what exits around you. To appreciate masterpieces and translate their essence in a new medium, in the form of flowers!
